How They Work
Dermal fillers are gels made from a naturally occurring substance in your skin known as hyaluronic acid. Our skin specialists use tiny micro needles to inject them into the skin in order to plump up the creased and sunken areas of the face. Typically, these are the curved lines that run vertically between the nose and the corners of the mouth (smile lines); and straighter lines that run from the corners of the mouth to the chin (marionette lines). But dermal fillers also can be used for lip enhancement, as well as depressed scars.
Your Choices
Allegro MedSpa offers two high quality dermal fillers, each with different benefits and limitations. The choice that's right for you will depend on your unique skin condition, lifestyle, and the results you desire.
- JUVÉDERM, from the company that makes BOTOX® Cosmetic, is similar to other hyaluronic acid fillers but tends to last longer. Santa Rosa JUVÉDERM treatments add fullness and hydration to the deeper folds and wrinkles of the face and neck. It also can be used to plump the lips.
- Prevelle is a thinner gel that contains lidocaine (a mild pain blocker) and is formulated for treating very fine lines such as the lines under the eyes.
What You Can Expect
Discomfort during treatment varies from person to person, and we can apply a light anesthetic prior to treatment to maximize your comfort. Side effects are rare, but may include swelling or mild bruising. You will be able to see results immediately and can carry on with your day's activities as soon as you leave the office.
As with all our treatments, injectable fillers are administered by highly trained skin health professionals, supervised by board-certified plastic surgeons Drs. Francisco Canales and Heather Furnas.
